My martial arts journey began during my teenage years, when I first trained in Kendo, laying the foundation for a lifelong passion for martial arts.
During the 1990s, I expanded my experience through the study of traditional Okinawan Karate, Full Contact Karate, and Eagle Claw Kung Fu while studying in New York, USA.
After returning to Japan in 1997, work commitments unfortunately prevented me from continuing my martial arts training. However, when I moved to the UK in 2001, the more relaxed lifestyle allowed me to return to regular practice.
Initially, I studied various styles of Chinese Kung Fu and Kickboxing, but my lifelong passion for Karate soon led me back to it. I first trained in Wado Ryu Karate at a local dojo, but shortly afterwards I met Mitsuoka Sensei and discovered that Shotokan Karate was the ideal martial art for me. As a result, I joined Sensei’s dojo in 2006 and have practised Shotokan Karate ever since.
My dedication led me to achieve 1st Dan in 2010, followed by 2nd Dan in 2012 and 3rd Dan in 2014, all under the WSKF.
Although I have dedicated many years to the study of Shotokan Karate, I have always maintained an interest in learning from other martial arts whenever the opportunity arises. This has included disciplines such as Taiki Shisei Kenpo (Iquan) and Aikido, helping me to further develop my understanding of Budo.
I have been teaching Shotokan Karate in Swindon under the guidance of Mitsuoka Sensei since 2009.
